Famous Strawberry Cake

Our young Hastings poets love writing about food. This week, we sampled my mom's delicious strawberry cake, a cake that several adults I know have gone nuts over, including a friend in Mexico who's been asking me about this recipe for a long time. (Sara, see recipe below. Finally!) One of the things that makes this cake taste unique is in the way the icing is prepared. But, here's what the kids thought about it:

Pink is my second favorite color
but this cake show is good
It will make you want to slap your mama
This cake will make me lose my mind
This cake is so good I will eat the whole thing
Also I think this is strawberry

A six layer cake will make me go crazy very crazy
It would make me hop out of my skin
So this cake tastes like smooth luscious Strawberry
even though I don’t like strawberry
But it was great very great

The Taste

I think this cake has a very special taste
that I haven't taste before
Even though it's pink
it makes me think
of red velvet cake
And it has lots of sugar in it
It taste like a big juicy strawberry
on a desert day
where it's just you by yourself
all alone

In case you'd like to make your own:

Recipe for Famous Strawberry Cake

1 box white cake mix
1 box jello(small) strawberry
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup wesson oil
1/2 cup half frozen sliced strawberries
Add cake mix, jello,eggs, and liquids,berries
Mix for four minutes with mixer
Pour in two cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes at 350

1/2 stick of butter soft
1 box confectioners' sugar
Add about 3 tbs of the liquid for berries might have to add a little more or less depending on how thick you prefer the icing.
